There is a nice garden setting at Discovery Park Winnellie that is located right behind the Darwin Show Grounds. Kids have a bouncy pillow and there is an indoor TV room, pool and gym. Sites are large, you can choose between gravel or slab bases. Not many other bells and whistles, the main thing here is you are close to Darwin, so it is the ideal base exploring the city.
Nearby Attractions This is the closest caravan park to Darwin so attractions like Crocosaurus Cove, East Point Reserve, Darwin Wave Pool, Darwin Aviation Museum and Mindil Beach are all only 5 -15 minutes away.
Big 4 Hidden Valley Holiday Park

🐶 Dogs are allowed at Big 4 Hidden Valley. They must be always kept on a leash no longer than 2m.
Big 4 Parks have had a reputation for offering a bit extra and that goes here for Hidden Valley. Live entertainment, reptile shows and an outdoor cinema are all part of the dry season program. Meals are available from the Hidden Valley Café.
If you want a shaded site in a garden setting you’ll pay a premium. Most of the caravan sites are in a more open area with few trees, and if we’re being honest, a bit less atmosphere than the top half of the park. You are also a fair way from the pool.
Nearby Attractions Big 4 Hidden Valley is also close to Darwin so all the activities in the city are just 10 or 15 minutes away. You are also near Crocodylus Cove (6 minutes) and Charles Darwin National Park (8 minutes).
Lee Point Village Resort
🚙 Lee Point Village Resort is 18 minutes from Darwin
🛌🏼 Accommodation – Camping area, unpowered sites, powered sites on grass or slab, powered ensuite sites, budget cabins.
🐶 Dogs are not allowed at Lee Point Village Resort
Best described as big but basic, Lee Point Village Resort does get some mixed reviews. True, the facilities are not the most modern, but you have plenty of room and there is some shade under big trees and a saltwater pool. You also get to use the bar and restaurant facilities at the Club Tropical Resort next door. They don’t have their prices on their website which is always irritating.
Fishers will like being only a couple of minutes from the Buffalo Creek boat ramp.
Nearby Attractions You are right next door to the Lee Point Reserve which is a great place for spotting birds. From there you can also walk or ride to the Casuarina Coastal Reserve. Or you can drive to Casuarina in under 10 minutes and explore the mangrove boardwalk, have brunch at the Darwin Surf Club Café and see the colourful Dripstone Cliffs.
Darwin FreeSpirit Resort
🚙 Darwin Free Spirit Resort is 17 minutes from Darwin
🛌🏼 Accommodation – Unpowered sites, powered sites with slab or grass and large premium sites. Villas, cabins and studios including pool-side spa villas and special access cabins and rooms.
This large, resort style park has all the mod-cons of a contemporary caravan park in a lovely garden setting. There are plenty of tall trees that provide shade for caravan sites. Oasis Tourist Park
🛌🏼 Accommodation – Unpowered sites suitable for rooftop tents, small campervans and tents, powered sites most with slabs, some drive through sites. Pool-side studio cabins and deluxe family cabins.
Oasis Tourist Park lives up to its name. From an excellent camp kitchen to secluded, shaded spots where you can have a cool drink or the palm-lined pool, you really feel like you are in a hidden patch of monsoon forest. This compact park has a lovely atmosphere and is in a sweet spot as a base for exploring attractions ‘down the track’ or getting into Darwin.

This is a large park with not one, but three pools including a splash park. You can hire pedal go carts to get around the place which the kids will love. There is also a kiosk where you can pick up a few supplies.
Coolalinga Tourist Park
🚙 Coolalinga Tourist Park is 26 minutes from Darwin
🛌🏼 Accommodation – shady unpowered sites, powered sites, powered sites with ensuites and a big rig area. Budget cabins, self-contained cabins and self-contained units.
🐶 Pets are welcome at Coolalinga Tourist Park. The first pet is free, for a second pet there is a $2 per day charge. Coolalinga Tourist Park has a fenced dog park.
This is a big park, but it has multiple amenities blocks, camp kitchens, a pool and free gas BBQs. While it might lack the bouncy pillows, outdoor cinema and cafes that other parks have, it is an excellent central location for getting to attractions both in Darwin and down the Stuart Highway. There is also a big shopping centre nearby.
Noonamah Tourist Park
🚙 Noonamah Tourist Park is 35 minutes from Darwin
🛌🏼 Accommodation – Unpowered grass sites, powered sites, powered drive through ensuites sites. One and two bedroom villas, standard and deluxe self-contained cabins, budget rooms, accessible cabin.
🐶 Pets are welcome at Noonamah Tourist Park. They must stay on leash. They are not permitted in cabins but can stay on the cabin verandas.
Noonamah Tourist Park is another well-gardened smaller park. The new amenities (in 2022) are spic and span and the pool is well shaded. The Noonamah Tavern next door has live music on Fridays and Saturday, a beer garden, serves lunch and dinner 7 days and has a bottle shop. It is another great option for getting to attractions in and out of Darwin.

🛌🏼 Accommodation – Powered sites, large unpowered grassed sites. Holiday villas (ensuite), Tropical Cabins (no ensuite)
🐶 Small pets that can be kept in vans are allowed at Tumbling Waters Holiday Park. Contact management to discuss bringing larger dogs into the park.
We have stayed here and loved it. Tumbling Waters is a great base for exploring the Top End. You won’t find a park with more palm trees and grass which gives Tumbling Waters a real jungle vibe. There is an outdoor cinema and saltwater pool. The Eat Troppo Garden Bar and restaurant is good. They even have their own freshwater crocodile sanctuary to walk through. It is a great base for getting to Litchfield or the Cox Peninsula.
Litchfield Safari Camp

🐶 Pets are allowed at Litchfield Safari Camp and pet sitting can be arranged with prior notice. Dogs are not permitted in cabins or the glamping tents.
